How soon can I start scanning documents and using iSynergy?

Once a qualified iDatix technician has installed the iSynergy solution and your staff has received training, you are ready to start enjoying the benefits of iSynergy.

Do I need to buy any other external hardware, components, or appliances not part of your iSynergy package?

You must have a scanner or multifunction device to enable document capture into iSynergy.

I have tried paperless solutions in the past; how is yours better/different?

The iSynergy solution offers more than simply document capture, indexing, and storing functionality. iSynergy is a complete business automation solution that can be configured to execute rules-based functions, maintain compliance with industry-specific regulations, as well as safely share and synchronize information using the Internet.

How long until I start seeing the benefits of iSynergy?

The benefits of using iSynergy are visible almost immediately. By automating your workflow and reducing or eliminating paper from your work environment, you will notice greater staff productivity, lowered costs for paper, toner, document storage, and paper disposal, the ability to serve more customers, faster, and less time spent on filing, copying, faxing, shipping, and searching for documents.

What if I buy the solution for a small office and then the company size doubles?

Because iDatix anticipates the workflow efficiencies achieved using iSynergy will foster greater business opportunities for our clients, we have designed the iSynergy solution to be scalable to an unlimited number of users and information stored. If you have purchased a solution and would like more information about expanding the capabilities of your system, please contact your authorized iDatix reseller.

Can iSynergy users be synchronized with Active Directory?

New product called ADIS (Active Directory Integration Service) provides automatic synchronization between users and groups within a domain Active Directory and iSynergy. This provides the ability to manage users and groups in one location (Active Directory) rather than manage users and groups in both Active Directory and iSynergy. This synchronization will allow for Single Sign On functionality within the various iSynergy suite of products. With Single Sign On enabled, users only have to log into a Windows domain. Once successfully logged in, users will be able to run iSynergy products without being required to log into each product.

Can Single Sign On be used without implementing Active Directory synchronization?

Single Sign On can be enabled without ADIS to let the users login into iSynergy without being prompted for username and password. Once Single Sign On is enabled, iSynergy will use Windows credentials to login users into the system.

Does iSynergy work with Windows Vista?

Currently, iSynergy does not support Windows Vista.

If my scanner can scan both sides of a document, can iScan allow for this?

Sure! Open the scanner settings in iScan: Tools > Scanner Settings > Scanner tab. Click the "More" button. The scanner settings are pulled directly from the ISIS driver. Select the option to scan both sides.

Can I use MSDE with iSynergy version 3.8?

No, version 3.8 only supports SQLExpress and SQL2005 Enterprise editions.

Do I have to purchase SQL2005 Enterprise Edition in order to have the Full Text capabilities in iSynergy 3.8?

You may use SQLExpress now with iSynergy version 3.8.

Having trouble installing iSynergy viewer on a new workstation? If you see a red X or a message saying that the install was blocked, please check the following:

1. Add the iSynergy server to the Trusted Sites in IE Internet Options
2. Enable Active X controls for the Trusted Sites
3. Check pop-up blockers ( in IE, yahoo toolbar, google toolbar etc)

Do you find yourself printing reports and then scanning them into iSynergy? You can skip the print-and-scan routine by using iDox.

iDox is the ideal solution for managing the storage of reports, statements, invoices; text-based PDF that originates as host-generated data. iDox breaks up large print runs into multiple PDF documents and automatically drives them into the correct application in iSynergy.

Documents are remaining in a ‘paused’ state in upload manager

Cause: Document Server does not have access to the repository

Resolution: Make sure the document server is running (run an iis reset). Documents are transmitted from Upload Manager to iSynergy via the Document Server, check to make sure the account running the Document Server has permissions to the repository. If the ScanDox workstation is remote, this may require checking on the ScanDox Server machine which account is running the App Pools. Grant the account running the App Pools permissions to the repository.

I’ve created a new Profile for an application but I can’t see it when I open ScanDox

Cause: User was not granted permission to that Profile

Resolution: Go to Tools > Options within ScanDox, select the profile in question and click on the Users tab. Add the User that needs access to the ‘Assigned Users’ list.

I’ve noticed that since installing ScanDox the scanner is scanning at a much slower rate.

Cause: ScanDox uses TWAIN drivers where iScan and ScanSpeed used ISIS drivers. TWAIN driver’s are slower than the ISIS drivers.

Resolution: Go to Tools > Options and select the Scanner tab. High-light the scanner profile under ‘Assigned Scanners’ and click Advanced. Select ‘Option’. Select ‘Job/Cache’, depending on your scanner driver’s you should see an option for ‘Scan Ahead’ or ‘Read Ahead’. Select the option available based on your scanner’s drivers.

I receive the following error "Unable to connect to remote service at ipc://isynergy/uploadmanager. Error registering with the remote server."

Cause: Port 8080 is blocked or in use by another process.

Resolution: Upload service uses port 8080. If port 8080 is being used by another program or service, contact the IT department to determine an alternative port. Open C:\Program Files\iDatix\Upload Service\uploadservice.exe.config file and change the port number to the new port authorized by the IT department.

When launching ScanDox, I receive the following error, "Error loading ScanDox - invalid URI: The URI is empty"

Cause: The Data Services entry in the config table of the eSpeed database is empty.

Resolution: Check the 'Data Service' entry of the config table in the eSpeed database. When the above error occurs, this entry is usually null and should be:
ConfigID: 20
ConfigName: Data Services
ConfigType: Service
ConfigData:
http://servername/ApplicationServer/DataService.asmx
ConfigGroup: NULL
